Reliance Jio Rs.49 Plan And Google I/O 2018
Reliance Jio is now offering 1GB data with free calls
at Rs. 49
Reliance Jio has yet again announced
the lowest rental plan of Rs. 49 in which it will offer unlimited voice and
data for 28 days for JioPhone subscribers. The data pack will be effective
January 26 and with the introduction of this new plan the telecom service
provider might be turning its focus towards feature phone users.
'JioPhone users will enjoy free
voice calls and unlimited data (1GB at high speed) for 28 days at a price of
only Rs 49. Jio is also introducing affordable data add-ons at Rs 11, 21, 51
and 101,' the company said in a statement.
'Tariffs charged for feature phone
users continue to be exorbitant, while their smartphone counterparts on Jio
enjoyed free voice calls and high-speed data at the most affordable tariffs.
The high feature phone tariffs make
it impossible for them to even think of using data...Jio has made data
affordable for everyone,' the company added.
Besides, the telco as part of its
'Republic Day offer' will double the validity of Rs 98 pack to 28 days from the
current 14 days. '...this Republic Day will mark the acceleration towards
achieving the vision of Digital Freedom for the 50 crore feature phone users of
India. Currently, they can neither afford even the cheapest 4G LTE smartphone
nor the exorbitant cost of data and voice charged for 2G services,' Jio said.
Recently, Reliance Jio also decided
to offer 500 MB extra data to its subscribers using 1GB and 1.5GB per day data
packs with effect from January 26. Mobile data rates will see a further drop to
as low as Rs 2.7 per GB with Reliance Jio announcing extra 500 MB data for its
users of select plans as part of 'Republic Day offer', as per a Bank of America
Merrill Lynch report.
Jio's closest rival Bharti Airtel
data cost per GB has dropped to Rs. 4 under its new schemes. The tariff of Rs.
2.7 per GB data is about 99 percent lower compared to Rs 249-259 per GB charged
by established big operators till August 2016 -- before the commercial launch
of Jio services.
Interestingly this move also comes
at a time when 4G VoLTE enabled JioPhone has now been ranked as the No 1
feature phone brand in the quarter to December by shipments, overthrowing
market leader Samsung in the segment for the first time. The report has been
filed by Counterpoint Research.
Google I/O 2018 to happen from May 8 to May 10
Google has come up with a teaser for
its annual I/O Developer's Conference with clues and puzzles. The company
usually teases a few upcoming features before the event that is held during
summer every year. Back in 2017, Google teased the copyless paste feature
before the Google I/O conference and now there are more elaborate clues for the
Google I/O 2018.
From the clues that were let out by
Google Developers' Twitter account, it looks like the company will hold the
conference from May 8 to May 10 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View,
California. Initially, a coded tweet was posted providing the first clue and it
is a picture of a bunch of binary codes.
When converting the binary code to
text, it reveals the Google I/O URL.
On visiting the website, Google
presents you with the Google Street View of what appears to be the reception
area of the Developers building. On moving around the area and looking for
clues as in an escape room game or a treasure hunt puzzle, you will get to
further details. However, you will play the game in Google Street View instead
of the real world.
Inside the building, you can get
several clues thrown here and there such as a calendar with the date August 5,
a plate of Sushi, a book called Sister Carrie written by Theodore Dreiser, and
more. You need to use the clues to enter the building further and the game goes
on.
Initially, you will have to unlock a
door with the password that could be a derivation from the clues as most of
them have a similar theme - Sister and Japan. On unlocking the door, the Google
Street View will take you to a conference room that is filled with further
clues. The first clue in the conference room is a pineapple cake hinting that
this could be the name of the next iteration of Android after Oreo. So would it
be Android 9.0 Pineapple Cake? Well, we need to wait to know the same.
After spending enough time to join
the clues together, you will get to know the date and location of the Google
I/O 2018 conference. And that is from May 8 to May 10 at the Shoreline
Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California as mentioned above.
