Latias And Latios Coming To 'Pokémon GO' Today

For the past few weeks, trainers in Pokémon GO have been battling Lugia, the Pokémon Silver mascot and the first Legendary Bird introduced to the game way back when the world was young. Lugia is retiring once more and the game is returning from its foray into the past to bring us Latios and Latia, available today. The two will be available until June 5, but not at the same time -- like the Legendary Beasts from back in the fall, Latios and Latia will be working with a regional rotation. From now until May 8, Latios will be available in North America, South America, and Africa, whereas Latias will be available in Europe and Asia/Pacific. On May 8 they'll switch until both fly away for good.

Latios and Latias are Psychic and Dragon-types, so expect the always-popular Tyranitar to making a strong appearance with its Super-effective Bite fast attack. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the airplane-like design, but someone out there must like it. Sounds like sort of a shame to pummel them into submission, to be honest, but that's the brutal logic of the world of Pokémon. In other news, Pokémon GO just introduced a quest system, and it's a breath of fresh air for anyone that's been having a hard time with the structure-less endgame. If you haven't played in a long time, it's a great time to let the game steer your re-entry a little bit, and today and tomorrow are even better. There's always a fresh round of interest when new Legendaries are released, so you've got a much better shot at finding random groups showing up at the steel blue Legendary Raid eggs -- just show up close to the end of the egg timer for your best chance.
