Reliance JioPhone booking starts again, but there is a big catch
After creating a storm in the Indian telecom sector Reliance Jio is ready to add some more power to it. The retail leg of the telecom giant has started accepting applications for booking of their much talked about JioPhone again. Without going overboard and not keeping it open for all, Reliance Retail will be open to only those who have earlier expressed interest in buying the phone. The company said that they have started sending out SMS messages to potential buyers. These potential buyers had shown interest in buying the phone in July. People who are interested can click on the link in the SMS message or make a call to the number displayed in the message.
A Reliance Jio channel partner said, "A link will be sent to people who are again showing interest to make payment of Rs 500 on the authorised channel. Once they make payment, they will be informed about the date when JioPhone will be delivered to them." More than 10 million people had shown interest in JioPhone and the message will be sent to all of them. As of now, there were no comments received from Jio and Reliance Retail on the development, PTI reports.
In August, in just under three days, the company registered more than six million JioPhones being booked. Reliance supremo Mukesh Ambani had announced that the 4G phone will be "effectively free" for users. But in order to prevent the misuse of the scheme, the buyers of JioPhone will need to shed a refundable deposit of Rs 1,500.
After use of 36 months, that is three years, the money will be refunded to customers. But in a move to cheer its buyers, the company has further relaxed the refund scheme. According to Jio, under the new condition, the handset buyers can be returned after using for a year but the refunded amount will be of Rs 500. The caveat is that the user has to recharge their phone with at least Rs 1,500.
Customers have the flexibility to reach the Rs 1,500 per year usage figure according to their convenience by choosing various tariff plans announced by the company. Similarly, on the return of the phone in the second year, the customer will get the refund of Rs 1,000 and subsequently in the third year, the entire amount of Rs 1,500 will be refunded.
Reliance started to deliver its JioPhones in small towns from the Navratri festival in early September.

Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) gets FCC nod
Samsung's upcoming sequel to the Galaxy J5 Prime - Galaxy J5 Prime (2018) - has been spotted on FCC certification website. Samsung had launched the Galaxy J5 Prime in September last year, and the speculations of a sequel have been making the rounds ever since a new mid-range Samsung device was spotted on GFXBench benchmarking site.
According to a new report, the upcoming device has received all the necessary certificates from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which could mean that its official launch is not very far. The device could be launched as Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (2018) or Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (2017), considering Samsung has not launched any successor to the Galaxy J5 Prime since it was launched in 2016.
The FCC document via AndroidCrunch, does not reveal much apart from the model of the device which is SM-G571. The listing does confirm, however, that the Galaxy J5 Prime will come with a non-removable battery, but gives no information regarding the capacity. The FCC listing also reveals that it will have connectivity features like 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi and GPS.
That being said, the new device could just be an incremental upgrade over its predecessor, as have been other Samsung J series devices in the past. Samsung could keep many of the original specs and hardware such as the same Exynos 7570 chipset and 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage.
Meanwhile, as per the earlier GFXBench listing, Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (2018) features a 4.8-inch display with 1280x720 pixels resolution and five finger gesture support. Besides that, the listing also shows that it will pack Samsung's in-house Exynos 7570 1.4GHz quad-core processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The graphics will be rendered by a Mali T720 GPU and the device runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
In terms of the camera, the Galaxy J5 Prime (2018) has a 13MP autofocus camera with a LED flash. We might see an upgrade in the selfie camera from the 5MP unit of the original J5 Prime to an 8MP sensor on the upcoming device. The GFX listing shows that the device has all the necessary connectivity features such as Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi, and an accelerometer and a gyroscope as well.

Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 fingerprint sensor to be made in Taiwan
We have heard that Samaung's 2018 flagship Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 will have fingerprint reader placed in the centre of the back, unlike what you see in the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 (next to the camera). What we haven't heard is the firm that would supply the fingerprint sensor; now we have a hint on that too.
A report by Korean media house ETNews has claimed that a company headquartered in Taiwan will supply fingerprint sensors for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 , giving a hint that there could be a change in the size and functionality of the sensor. The report added that the final contract hasn't been sealed yet but it would happen as it has worked with Samsung in the past.
It may be mentioned that the Samaung Galaxy S9 is expected to sport a 5.8-inch (5.77-inch to be precise) Infinity Display like its predecessor Galaxy S8, and the Galaxy S9 may come with a 6.2-inch Infinity Display (6.22-inch to be precise) like the Galaxy S8 .
Reports have claimed that the Galaxy S9 will be powered by an Exynos 9810 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processors depending on the market, come packed with either a 4GB or 6GB RAM, and mount a dual camera.
The South Korean technology giant hasn't revealed the release date of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 but reports have claimed it will be announced in February 2018 before releasing into the market in March. Its mass production is expected to begin early next year.

Upcoming Apple iPhone XI S Plus could feature a 6.5-inch OLED display

Apple's iPhones are arguably the most anticipated devices. Quite naturally, the rumor mill has already started churning out the details of next year's iPhones.
A couple of weeks back, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that one of the 2018 models of iPhones may come with a 6.5-inch screen. Now, Chuljoong Kim of Jefferies & Co. suggests an iPhone with a display as big as 6.5-inch is very likely. The renowned analyst further says that Apple is expected to launch this model as the iPhone X1 S Plus by the year 2020.
Apparently, the alleged iPhone X1 S Plus will feature an OLED screen manufactured by LG Electronics.
While the iPhone X's OLED display is manufactured by Samsung, Apple is reportedly planning to rely less on the South Korean tech firm. The company will rather make major investments in a new LG facility that would exclusively produce iPhone displays.
According to Chuljoong Kim, the 6.5-inch model of iPhone could use only 180 panels per shoot. In comparison, the iPhone X can use 230 panels per sheet. This has generated new challenges among suppliers.
The Jefferies & Co. analyst also believes that investments in foldable OLED screens will continue with the first models getting launched in 2019. We are not sure if Apple will go with the same naming strategy it used for iPhone. If it does, then one of the 2018 models should be named as the iPhone X S. The next year could bring the iPhone X1. Well, presumably, the Cupertino giant will introduce the iPhone X1 S Plus in 2020.
Having said that, Apple is a company that likes to surprise people. So you are recommended to take this report with a grain of salt. Also, it is too early to say if the analyst's predictions will come accurate. In the course of almost three years, many technological advancements will take place. Such as one recent report claimed that a future iPhone could feature a microLED display.

TVS Readies Its 300cc Racing Bike For India - Will It Be Apache?

TVS is all set to unveil its performance bike in India in the first week of December, and we can’t wait to see how the production ready-bike will look.
There have been a few leaks reported on the web, but we’re hopeful that the bike, rumoured to be called Apache 310, bike looks identical to the Akula concept which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016.
The company has rolled out media invites for the big day, where we will get to see the full-fledged version of much-anticipated TVS bike.
The Akula concept, as we know, was designed and created by TVS in association with BMW and the bike is being manufactured at TVS’ Chennai plant.
Back in 2015, a TVS official had said that the market-ready version of the Akula will be 80 percent similar to that of the concept version (missing out on the carbon-fibre body and dynamic tyres).
The full-faired bike is likely to be powered by the same 313cc engine that we get on the BMW G 310R, which means the Apache 310 could pack 34hp of power and 28Nm of torque but tuned differently, like how Bajaj has used the KTM 373cc engine on its Dominar.
TVS had claimed before that the supposed Apache RR310 could be priced under Rs 2 lakh in the country, and we’ll know about that for sure when the bike gets unveiled on 6 December.
TVS Akula 310 concept bike.
It is highly expected that the Apache RR310 will be the full-fairing avatar of the BMW G 310R that will be offered at a more accessible price point than the more expensive naked version, ie: the G 310R. This will put the Apache RR310 line-up against the Bajaj Dominar and KTM Duke 390 among others.
