Apple says new iOS apps must be built with iOS 11 SDK
Apple has announced that iOS app developers are now required to make apps that support the Super Retina display of iPhone X. Coming into effect from April 2018, apps without the support for iPhone X's Super Retina display won't be accepted in the App Store. The Cupertino-based tech giant has apparently made this move to propel the new apps that are exclusive to the iPhone X.
First spotted by 9to5Mac, Apple has informed the developers about the change via an email. According to the email, all new iOS apps (even the universal ones) that are submitted to the App Store have to carry support for the Super Retina display starting from April 2018.
Furthermore, the iOS apps submitted to the App Store have to be built using the iOS 11 SDK. While the exact reason is not clear at the moment, this is probably to push the usage of iOS 11, which has features such as Core ML, SiriKit, and ARKit. However, developers are not bound to add support for any new iOS features to their apps. So the new app could retain some simple functionality.
'Starting April 2018, all new iOS apps submitted to the App Store must be built with the iOS 11 SDK, included in Xcode 9 or later. All new apps for iPhone, including universal apps, must support the Super Retina display of iPhone X,' said the guidelines. You can also find the guidelines on Apple's Developer site.
Apple had earlier informed iOS app developers to make necessary changes to support the notch and edge-to-edge display of its latest flagship. Besides this, the company has also stopped signing three previous versions of its mobile Operating System iOS following the release of iOS 11.2.5.
In simpler words, iPhone users are no longer allowed to downgrade to a lower version of iOS after installing a new version on their devices. The iPhone maker has particularly stopped signing iOS 11.2, iOS 11.2.1 and iOS 11.2.2 for all its devices. So iPhone users now have no choice but to upgrade to the latest version.

Flipkart stops working !!!
Popular e-commerce website Flipkart is currently down and is inaccessible. If you visit the website or try using the app you will be greeted with a message stating, 'We are seeing a surge in the number of shoppers, please retry in few minutes, Error Code: E002.'
From the reason that the company has displayed, it looks like Flipkart's servers are down due to a high number of users visiting the website. As of now, the company has not provided any official comments regarding the same.
If you try using the app you will likely see the error message: ' Something went wrong- Retry!' So it seems both the website and the app are down.
While we are still speculating the case, such incident is quite rare with the website. But again due to its popularity and how e-commerce has flourished in the last couple of years, Flipkart is seeing signs that it has to improve on its platform to handle more.
In any case, flipkart.com is down since 12:06 PM and there is nothing we can do except wait. Probably the server is overloaded, down or unreachable because of a network problem, outage or a website maintenance is in progress.
Meanwhile, if the site is up and if you can't access the page you can try one of the following steps. It might be a browser related problem and you can firstly force a full refresh of the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL F5 keys at the same time on your favorite browser whether it be Firefox, Chrome, or Explorer.
You can also try alternative URLs such as amazon.com. Finally, you can clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page.

DOT to unveil the 5G roadmap by the end of the June 2018
The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) is expected to unveil the 5G or fifth-generation roadmap by the end of the June this year and take lead in technology as well as used cases, Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan said on Friday.
She said, 'The DoT has received good inputs on 5G in the new telecom policy or NTP 2018 which is yet to be unveiled. The draft of the NTP 2018 is in final stages and will be put in public soon.'
'The telecom ministry has set up a high-level committee to work on 5G roadmap so that India gets access to the next generation technology when it is available for commercial roll-out globally, She further said.
Adding that 'In the 5G we are looking to do a lot of pilots. So when 5G hits, India will be a leading edge of technology as well as used cases.'
On the call drop issue, DoT secretary said Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has brought new regulatory regime under which there are stringent norms for call drops that need to be followed by telcos.
She also pointed out that, 'We are moving towards getting approvals for in-flight connectivity but cannot give any timeframe for the final approval, however, the discussions are on right track.'
India is going to beat al the estimations. It was thought that India is primarily a voice-driven market, but the way data is growing is taking everyone by surprise. The data growth is not just in urban markets but in the deep rural, telecom secretary said.
'I expect that by the end of the next financial year, we will have pan India 4G coverage barring a few pockets. The right regulatory framework is the key to create an enabling environment for connected devices', the secretary further said while addressing at an Assocham event.
In the last 18 months, the telecom networks undergone fundamental change because we have very rapidly moved from predominant era of 2G and 3G to an era of 4G, Sundararajan added.

Airtel's new Rs. 9 Plan
Airtel has launched a new entry-level plan of Rs. 9 for its prepaid subscribers. As part of the telco's Prepaid Promise scheme, the plan offers unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS and 100MB data with 1 day validity. This plan is similar to Reliance Jio's Rs. 19 plan, which provides unlimited calls, 20 SMS and 150MB of data. While Jio's plan gives an additional 50MB of data, the Airtel's Rs. 9 plan is offering 80 SMSes more than Jio.
The new tariff plan from Airtel seems to be an open market one. According to Airtel's website, the Rs. 9 plan is available in all the circles under Combo Offer section.
This means customers can avail the plan in all the circles where the telecom operator has its operations. If you are living in Mumbai, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Karnataka and other circles, this plan should work for you.
If you are looking for a one-day pack with limited, this plan is perfect for you. If you want some more data you can also try Airtel's Rs. 19 tariff plan, which offers unlimited voice calls including roaming calls, 100 SMS and 200MB 3G/4G data for all smartphones with one-day validity. And guess what, this is an open market plan as well.
Besides this, there is another Rs. 23 tariff plan from Airtel. As per the plan, customers are entitled to get the benefits of unlimited calls, 100 SMS per day and 100MB data for two days.
Lately, Airtel has been revising a lot of its tariff plans offering higher data benefits at the same cost. The telco recently revised its Rs. 93 prepaid plan to take on Jio's Rs. 98 plan. At Rs. 93, the company is offering benefits such as 1GB of data, unlimited calls be it local, STD and roaming and 100 SMS per day for 28 days. However, this plan is not an open market one and is only available in select cities.

Sony's next flagship : The Bezel-less Design

Sony smartphones are great; at least for the most part. When it comes to design though, the phones look a tad plain (read boring). The Japanese manufacturer has retained the same design on its smartphones for years now. While it may not bother loyal users, Sony's lineup does look quite outdated in the age of tall displays with 18:9 aspect ratio and minimal bezels.
What's more, there is no way to tell apart a flagship Sony phone from a budget one. All of the phones from the company look the same; block-like shape, large bezels, and side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Goes without saying, it is high time that Sony introduces a fresh design on its smartphones.
Guess what, the company might just agree to this opinion as well.
Folks at Xperia Blog has found a set of documents that suggest one of Sony's upcoming flagships may arrive with a completely new design. Sony Mobile has asked FCC to dismiss all grants for a device in a letter. The letter mentions the reason for dismissal as design change. Carrying an FCC ID of PY7-00718V, it is believed to be the next flagship from Sony.
At the moment, we are not sure what changes would be made. We could either expect radical redesign or just some minor changes.
Sony is speculated to unveil its next flagship at MWC 2018, which is slated to take place in less than two weeks time. And the letter was sent recently, on February. So the company is unlikely to make major changers. That said, we would be more than delighted if the company finally embraces the bezel-less design.
Earlier this week, the Sony H8266 was spotted on AnTuTu with an 18:9 display. Speculated to launch as the flagship Xperia XZ2, the smartphone was also listed on the benchmarking site with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage space. Finally, the AnTuTu listing showed the device running on Android 8.0 Oreo.
The Xperia XZ2 is also rumored to feature a dual rear camera setup with two 12MP image sensors. Do note, it could be the first Sony smartphone to come with dual cameras.
